We recently partnered with comedian, TV host, and actor Howie Mandel and others from the cast of TV’s America’s Got Talent to grant a once in a lifetime experience for a Florida girl diagnosed with a life threatening illness.
Wish Kid Alisia Castro-King flew from Florida to California where the hit show America’s Got Talent (AGT) is produced. It was there the teen was able to meet Howie Mandel, Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, and Mel B., judges for the competition series reality show.
As if meeting the stars of America’s Got Talent wasn’t enough, Alisia also had the thrill of meeting Sylvester Stallone through an introduction from The Palm’s manager while the family enjoyed lunch there before the show.
“Can you imagine what it means for a young girl to be able to travel across the country to sit on the set of her favorite TV show?” said Anna Lanzatella, executive director for Star Wishes for Children. “This is what we’re able to give our Wish Kids when we partner with people like Howie Mandel, who has been a Guardian Angel with our organization for years.”
Alisia’s illness began with persistent headaches that increased in severity. Tests results confirmed that she suffers from Chiari malformation, a condition in which brain tissue extends into the spinal canal and obstructs the flow of cerebral spinal fluid. Although surgery relieved her pain for a little, symptoms have slowly started to return. Being on her wish showed Alisia “there are people who care and want to help kids like me”.
“The show was so amazing live,” said Alisia. “And I actually got to sit in Howie’s chair!”
Alisia and her family were guests at Courtyard LAX/Century Boulevard. They were also treated to the Hollywood Wax and Guinness World Records Museums and enjoyed memorable meals at Hard Rock Café and The Palm.
