Emmanuel Encarnacion, or Manny as he prefers, loves creating his own culinary delights and dreams of one day opening his own restaurant. Who better for Star Wishes for Children to collaborate with than celebrity chef Robert Irvine to create a once-in-a-lifetime experience for Wish Kid Manny?
Star Wishes for Children flew Manny and his family from Florida to Southern California where Manny was able to meet his idol, Chef Irvine, and spend some one-on-one time with him in his dressing room discussing their mutual love for cooking before also being on the set of Irvine’s new TV show The Robert Irvine Show. Irvine has appeared on and hosted a variety of Food Network programs including Dinner:Impossible, Worst Cooks in America, Restaurant: Impossible, and Chopped: Impossible.
“I had the honor and privilege of granting Manny’s wish,” said Chef Irvine. “He is a tough 18 year old who has been dealing with severe health issues. He came out with his family and spent the day on the set of my new show. Thanks to Star Wishes for Children for helping to make this happen.”
Manny has faced years of brain surgery after being diagnosed with Chiari malformation, the extension of brain tissue into the spinal canal and Pseudotumor Cerebri, a condition that occurs when one’s brain creates excess fluid thinking there is the presence of a tumor.
Manny’s mother Tami was especially impressed with the time a busy Irvine afforded her son, “The most meaningful part was the one-on-one and the inspiring words that Chef Irvine gave him. That individual time spent, without rushing, made the entire trip.”
“We are touched by the generosity of all those who help create these great memories for our Wish Kids,” said Anna Lanzatella, executive director for the children’s charity. “We’re especially grateful for celebrities like Chef Irvine who take time out of their busy lives to support our mission of bringing hope to sick children and making an everlasting impact on the child’s life.”
During the wish, Manny and his family were guests at the Marriott Woodland Hills. They were also treated to wonderful meals at Luke’s and Ruth Chris Steakhouse. To attend all the activities, the family was provided limo service by Crown Limousine and Exclusive Sedan Service.
Robert Irvine joins a long list of celebrities who have supported Star Wishes for Children in making come true the heartfelt wishes of children facing life-threatening illnesses.
